Vision

At Noé Retro Frenchies, the well-being of the dog always comes first. As a French Bulldog breeder, we believe it is important that a dog can truly be a dog. This means being able to move freely, run without immediately experiencing breathing difficulties, and function well even in warmer temperatures. A French Bulldog that is constantly short of breath or making snoring noises is therefore not something we consider normal or cute.

In recent years, there has fortunately been increasing attention to the appearance of the French Bulldog. Think of a longer nose, a more athletic build, and a functional tail. These are important steps in the right direction. At the same time, we believe it is truly high time that more is done to restore the health of the breed.

What we find important to emphasize is that appearance alone does not say everything. A longer nose does not automatically mean that a French Bulldog is actually healthier. Internal health is at least as important, and perhaps even more important.

To gain a clear understanding of this, we have our dogs thoroughly examined. On our “Health Tests” page, you can read more about the tests we carry out.

At Noé Retro Frenchies, we therefore look beyond appearance alone. For us, the overall picture must be right. A healthy French Bulldog not only has a better structure on the outside, but also a strong and functional foundation on the inside.

We are aware that the problems within the breed did not arise overnight and therefore cannot be solved immediately. This requires time. Since 2023, the regulations surrounding the breeding of French Bulldogs have been tightened, including in the area of muzzle length (CFR). This is a positive development, but for us it is only one part of the whole.

To truly make progress in improving the French Bulldog, we believe it is important to also look at genetic diversity. Broadening the gene pool can help reduce hereditary conditions and contribute to a healthier structure, both internally and externally.

We do our utmost to breed French Bulldog puppies that are as healthy as possible. At the same time, we realize that we are working with living animals and that nature will always play a role. What we can do is make conscious choices, remain critical, and continue to develop ourselves.
